Preparing Men for Change is a motivational domestic violence programme of up to 8 one-to-one sessions. It is suitable for those who cannot attend group work due to language issues, or those who require additional motivational work prior to joining Building Better Relationships or Safe Relationships. The exercises are designed to be delivered sequentially with the first 2 sessions aimed at building a relationship with the participant and preparing the context for later sessions. Sessions are approximately 45 minutes in length, and there are up to 8 sessions available.
The aims of the Preparing Men for Change programme are to:
- Increase awareness of what constitutes a healthy relationship based on equality.
- Increase awareness of behaviours that constitute domestic abuse and how it impacts the partner
- Increase understanding of the negative impact of abusive behaviour on their children and ways to improve relationships with children
- Provide strategies for avoiding violence and abuse
